Professional experience:

Hilary’s breadth of experience in the care and conservation of historic buildings has been drawn from both public and private sectors. She has contributed to works for the government and for private practices in London and Yorkshire. Hilary held a term appointment, from 1991-94, as Senior Architect with HM Royal Household, for works related to the occupied royal palaces.

More recently, as Senior Conservation Architect for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, her responsibilities included the care and protection of listed buildings, notably, the South Kensington Museums, advising on good conservation practice, and acting as an expert witness for planning appeals relating to the historic fabric. She is a member of the RIBA Conservation Architecture Group and the Georgian Group Casework Panel. She has served as a member of the the RIBA Conservation Register Steering Group.
